Retailer Occupation Tax (ROT): The ROT is a state sales tax that applies to the sale of tangible personal property, including cannabis. The base rate for ROT is 6.25%, but it can be higher in certain municipalities with additional local taxes.

Cannabis Purchaser Excise Tax: Consumers pay an excise tax on cannabis products. The tax rates vary depending on the type of product:

• 25% for cannabis with a THC level at or below 35%
• 40% for all cannabis-infused products
• 30% for cannabis with a THC level above 35%

Additionally, municipalities have the authority to impose local taxes on cannabis sales.

The legal limits for cannabis possession and purchase are as follows:

• Cannabis Flower: Adults can possess and purchase up to 30 grams (approximately one ounce) of cannabis flower.

• Cannabis Concentrates: The legal limit for cannabis concentrates is up to 5 grams.
